The Motorola RIZR Z10 has been talked about on the Internet for quite some time now. Here are some photos of the unit I took in a briefing. The most peculiar thing about the phone is its unique design as you can see from the photos. The slider-candybar style allows half of the phone to bend to fit the contour of your face.

The RIZR is set to come out in Asia in the coming 2 to 3 months. I must reiterate that the real estate of the Z10, though unique is really more for the coolness factor. It’s also what makes the phone stand out as something more than a regular entry level phone. The RIZR Z10 handles video at 30 fps at QVGA MPEG4 format. Meant to be all video, you can edit your videos on the fly using the basic built in video editing software.

The phone comes with 90MB of user available memory but the expansion slot can be pushed up to 32GB of data.

Personally, the compelling factor of the Z10 is its unique shape. When taking videos, you must be able to shoot at a small tilt because, as you already know, the real estate bends when the slider is fully pulled out.

The Motorola Skarven will probably be named Z12 and with this it is the direct follower of the Motorola RIZR Z8 and the Motorola RIZR Z10, which are displayed at the photo at the right and in the middle. At the right side of the photo the Motorola (RIZR) Z12 is displayed, the multimedia device of Motorola what many have been waiting for.

However, what is that special with the Motorola Z12? The first messages state that the Motorola Skarven offers an 5 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom. Furthermore, the kickslider has a noteworthy amount of internal memory and it will be overwhelming to watch films and listen to music. The display has a size of 2.8 inch and with 16 million colours and a VGA resolution it is a display with such high quality that we have never seen in any other mobile phone before.

The display of the Motorola Skarven is divided in two parts; the bottom of the display has namely received an extra touchsensitive beam with which the user can operate the device. So, the Motorola Skarven has no touchscreen, but the bottom part of the display can be used with your fingers for navigation. When the kickslider is opened, a numbered keyboard becomes is revealed, the user can send SMS messages, MMS messages and e-mails with this.

At the press meeting that Mobile Phone Helpdesk attended last year, Motorola stated that the Skarven would offer UMTS and HSDPA support. This is something we can confirm today because the right upper corner of the phone, as shown on the photo, is equipped with an extra VGA camera that can be used for videocalling in combination with UMTS and HSDPA support.

Next week the time has come, Motorola will try to make a come-back by launching new devices and especially the Motorola Z12, or the Motorola Skarven. Other devices that Mobile Phone Helpdesk spotted at the press meeting in October are the Motorola X-Pixl( a 5 megapixel Kodan candybar), the Motorola Texel (music device with "morph" technology) and the Motorola Genghis (colourful Windows Mobile device). If we will be able to admire all these new devices at the Mobile World Congress next week is something the future will tell.

In 2006 Motorola began releasing a new line of MOTORIZR image sliders. The first was the model Z3, which is the first GSM-slider of the company. Great attention was paid to materials, as well as on internal functional filling which couldn’t make this mobile phone a bestseller. In early 2007, an updated model Z6 was launched. Now the phone is positioned as a musical image slider. And again – beautiful, functional, but unpopular. Till the end of 2007 an updated Z8 model released. In addition to black-and-green color it has Symbian UIQ platform and many other advantages.

Finally, there comes RIZR Z10 – an updated model of Z8 which has a more rigorous design. So let’s have a look at this novelty.
